To provide a method for producing a mold having high strength and satisfactory dimensional stability, and in which the generation of gas is suppressed even if being heated by casting.SOLUTION: A method for producing a mold has a process where one or more kinds of silica-containing solutions selected from a silica sol solution and an alkyl silicate solution other than monomers are infiltrated into a molding molded using an additional production device, and thereafter, the infiltrated molding is heated at 500 to 1,200°C.SELECTED DRAWING: None
