Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method of producing silk-like woven or knitted fabrics having well-balanced rustling, elegant gloss, tension and body. CONSTITUTION: At first, high-shrinkage conjugated fibers and low-shrinkage conjugated fibers are prepared. The high-shrinkage conjugated fiber is made of a polyester component 1 of 15% or higher boiling water shrinkage(BWS) having a polylobar cross section having 3 or more lobes. Near the tops of individual lobes of the main body of fiber X, a plurality of grooves are continuously formed in the fiber-axis direction and the grooves are filled with another polyester 2 having higher solubility in alkali than that of the polyester 1. The low-shrinkage conjugated fibers has the same constitution as that of the high- shrinkage fiber except that the main body of the fiber Y has 10% or lower BWS. These conjugated fibers are mixed and knitted or woven to give a fabric. The fabric is subjected to the alkali-thinning treatment to remove the polyester 2 and remain fibers X and Y. This fabric is treated with hot water so that the fibers X develop larger shrinkage than that of fibers Y thereby giving silky-like woven or knitted fabric.
