To provide a method for reusing a used refractory generated in an ironworks, in which the amount of the spent refractory to be discarded can be made zero by making effective use of the whole spent refractory.
This method for reusing the used refractory comprises a step to recover the used refractory generated in the ironworks and sort it into groups having the compositions different from one another, a step to crush and classify each of the sorted groups by using a crushing/classifying equipment line 23 arranged in the ironworks and a step to mix a part of the crushed/classified refractory with a raw material as it is in a refractory manufacturing facility 24 in the ironworks and manufacture a new refractory and use the manufactured new refractory in the ironworks, use another part of the crushed/classified refractory as it is as a subsidiary raw material for manufacturing and refining iron and ship substantially all of the remainder to the inside and outside of the ironworks as a civil engineering material. The line 23 has a grizzly 1, a breaker 2 for crushing the clumpy refractory primarily, a jaw crusher 3 for crushing the primarily crushed refractory secondarily and an impeller mill 4 and a hammer mill 5 for pulverizing the secondarily crushed refractory.
