To obtain a pharmaceutical composition for treatment of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease with high safety and efficacy by using protein and the like prepared by culturing a host yeast transformed by a specific vector.
This pharmaceutical composition contains, as active ingredients, proteins and carriers that are obtained by culturing the host yeast that is transformed with (i) the vector expressing Apo-AI and Apo-AI-M in a transformed yeast comprising the self-originating promoter sequence of the yeast to be transformed, the DNA sequence encoding the apolipo protein AI (Apo-AI) or the Apo-lip protein AI-M (milano) (Apo-AI-M), the sequence encoding the leader of a modified MFα1 leader sequence encoding the amino acid sequence of the formula, and the self-originating transfer terminator promoter sequence of the yeast to be transformed, or (ii) the vector expressing Apo-AI or Apo-AI-M originating from the plasmid pUC8 or (iii) the vector comprising the plasmid pYES/AI or the like.
