Title:
HUMANIZED ANTI-CCR2 ANTIBODY AND METHOD FOR USING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2008069150
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an antibody or a fragment thereof safely usable as a medicine expectable of effects on inflammatory diseases.

An antibody (immunoglobulin) or a functional fragment thereof (e.g. an antigen-binding fragment) which binds to a mammalian CC-chemokine receptor-2 (also referred to as CCR2, CKR-2, MCP-1RA or MCP-1RB) or a portion of the receptor (anti-CCR2) is provided. In one embodiment, the antibody or fragment thereof has specificity for human or Rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta) CCR2 or a portion thereof. In another embodiment, the antibody or fragment thereof blocks binding of a ligand (e.g. MCP-1, MCP-2, MCP-3 or MCP-4) to the receptor and inhibits functions associated with the binding of the ligand to the receptor (e.g. leukocyte transportation).
