To provide a hybrid power supply system for complexedly utilizing power supplied from an AC power supply such as a commercial power supply and at the same time effectively utilizing DC power that is supplied from a generation system or the like for utilizing natural energy, and to provide the operation method of the system.
The hybrid power supply system comprises an AC power supply line 4 for supplying AC power from an AC power supply 2 to an AC load 6, and DC power supply lines 21, 23, and 25 for supplying DC power to a DC load 12 from DC power supplies 8 and 10. The system also has a system connection inverter 16 and an AC/DC converter 14. When the supply voltage of the DC power supplies 8 and 10 is equal to or more than a first value, a system connection inverter 16 is driven and AC power is supplied to the AC power supply line 4. When the supply voltage is equal to or less than a specific, second value, a switch MC2 is closed, and power is supplied from the AC power supply line 4 to the DC load 12.
