Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make EV traveling possible when commuting from one's home early morning or when coming home late at night, and to secure sufficient distance where the EV traveling can be performed. SOLUTION: A hybrid vehicle, in which the EV traveling and HEV traveling can be changed over, is provided with an external charging device (23) that charges a battery (3) by an external power supply; a map data device (17) capable of recognizing the present position of the vehicle on its map data; a means (16, 18) that registers points where the external power supplies are set up as the bases on the map data; a means (16, 18) that registers the EX traveling possible areas around the bases on the map data; a means (16) that, when traveling from the outside of an EV traveling possible area toward a base, raises the SOC of the battery in advance in the HEV traveling prior to reaching an EV traveling possible area; and a means (16) that changes over to the EV traveling when the vehicle enters an EV traveling possible area.
