PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize a hybrid vehicle controller capable of driving an engine without giving discomfort to a passenger.SOLUTION: A hybrid vehicle controller is provided with an engine 10; a generator 20 driven by the engine to generate power; a battery 30 for accumulating the generation power of the generator 20; a traveling motor 40 which drives a vehicle by receiving at least either one of the generation power of the generator 20 or output power from the battery 20; target engine output deciding means 100 for deciding target engine output which is the target output of the engine 10; and engine control means 100 for controlling each part of the engine 100 so as to make the output of the engine 10 become the target engine output calculated by the target engine output deciding means 100. By the target engine output deciding means 100, the target engine output is decided to be a value which is increased with the increase of vehicle speed, and increased/decreased at a certain ratio to the increase/decrease of the vehicle speed.
