To prevent air from remaining in a pump plunger hole.
This hydraulic continuously variable transmission is composed of an axial plunger pump P composed of a pump cylinder 22 having a pump plunger hole 22a and a pump plunger 23 fitted into the pump plunger hole, an axial plunger motor M composed of a motor cylinder 32 having a motor plunger hole 32a and a motor plunger 33 fitted into the motor plunger hole, and a distribution valve 50 constituting a hydraulic closed circuit linking the axial plunger pump to the axial plunger motor. A pump opening 22b discharging hydraulic fluid pushed out in accordance with slide travel of the pump plunger in the pump plunger hole is formed by opposing to an end face of the pump plunger in an end part of the pump plunger hole. The pump opening is formed in such a way that it is smaller than the pump plunger hole and is eccentric on a rotation shaft side of the pump cylinder.
