The hydraulic transmission mechanism 40 for a vertical shaft excavator 1 is constituted by connecting a hydraulic hose to a diameter enlarging jack 22A operating a diameter enlarging cutter 22 mounted to a cutter 21 from the upper part of a vertical shaft 2. The hydraulic transmission mechanism 40 has: a swivel device 41 comprising a fixed passage pipe and a rotating passage pipe connected to the fixed passage pipe rotatably in the circumferential direction of the vertical shaft; and a hose reel 42 which connects the hydraulic hose 44 wound by connecting hydraulic pressure from the rotating passage pipe, to the diameter enlarging jack 22A, and rotates around the center axis of the vertical shaft. The hose reel 42 and the swivel device 41 are rotated interlocked with the rotation of the diameter enlarging jack 22A.
