Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a new compound having excellent insecticidal characteristics for armyworm, mite etc., useful as a pest controlling agent safely usable with assured effect.

CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I(X is halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylsulfonyloxy, etc.; R1 is H or alkyl; R2 is H, alkyl, alkylcarbonyl, etc.; R3 is H or alkyl; R4 is alkyl, alkenyl, etc.; A is S, 0, alkylene, carbonyl, etc.; n is 0 or 1; Y is phenyl or pyridyl), e.g. 4'-chloro-2,2-dimethyl-2- phenylacetophenone-ethoxycarbonylhydrazone. The compound of the formula I can be obtained by reaction between a compound of formula II and a compound of formula III in the presence of an acid catalyst (e.g. p-toluenesulfonic acid) in a solvent (e.g. benzene) at 0°C to the boiling point of the solvent.
