Title:
HYDROCARBON CONVERSION CATALYST COMPOSITION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06170227
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a stable catalyst composition having increased activity and selectivity for aromatic hydrocarbons without requiring halogen addition by incorporating an amorphous silica-alumina support having a specified metal, a Group IVB oxide and silica and also having a rare earth oxide dispersed on the carrier.

CONSTITUTION: The catalyst composition has an amorphous silica-alumina support having at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Group VIII noble metals, mixtures of Group VIII noble metals and rhenium, mixtures of Group VIII noble metals and tin and mixtures of Group VIII noble metals, tin and rhenium, a Group IVB oxide and at least 50 wt.% silica and also having a rare earth oxide dispersed on the support. The acidity of an amorphous silica- alumina support is systematically reduced to a level close to the acidity of a halide-alumina catalyst by utilizing the weakly basic rare earth oxide and the Group IVB oxide is added to increase the dispersion of the metal added later.
