Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hydrogelation agent and a functional gel having biodegradability or biocompatibility and composed of a low-molecular material as opposed to a gel derived from a polymer.
SOLUTION: The hydrogelation agent comprises a glycoside-amino acid derivative represented by formula (1) {wherein, SG denotes a sugar structural site having a glycoside structure of N-acetylated monosaccharides or disaccharides; AA denotes an amino acid structural site represented by formula (2) [wherein, (n) is 1 or 2; and R denotes a hydrocarbon group represented by any of formulae (3) to (6) such as a hexylmethyl]; and L denotes a linker site connecting the sugar structural site to the amino acid structural site and having a hydrogen bonding functional group or atomic group}. A hydrogel is obtained by including an aqueous liquid in the hydrogelation agent. Thereby, the resultant temperature-sensitive gel reversibly swells or shrinks according to a temperature change.
