To provide a hydrogen energy recovering organic waste decomposing/volume-reducing method.
This method is performed in a system at least comprising: a pre-treating process for crushing organic waste, sterilizing it, and making it into a slurry state by diluting with water having a solid concentration of 1-35w/v%; a main treating process for mixing the organic waste slurry prepared in the pre-treating process with at least one or more of anaerobic hydrogen-forming bacteria in anaerobic atmosphere and decomposing/volume-reducing the organic waste by the function of the anaerobic hydrogen-forming bacteria; and a post-treating process for separating and discharging hydrogen-containing gas and decomposed/volume-reduced residue of the organic waste formed in the main treating process from the system.
