Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior cycle lifetime characteristic by mixing hydrogen storage alloy powder with metal coated powder obtained by coating a surface of at least one kind of powder to be selected from among scandium, yttrium, lanthanoids and oxides and hydroxides of these materials with a conductive metal at a specified value or less of mean coating thickness. SOLUTION: Metal-coated powder obtained by coating a surface of powder with conductive metal at 1 μm or less of mean coating thickness in the porous condition is used. At least one kind from among scandium, yttrium, lanthanoid and oxides and hydroxides of these material is made to contact with a solution, including at least one kind of metal to be selected from among silver, copper, nickel, cobalt, rhodium, iridium, palladium, platinum, gold and alloys of these metals so as to coat the surface of the powder with the conductive metal at 1 μm or less of a mean coating thickness, and thereafter, this metal-coated powder is mixed with the hydrogen storage alloy powder.
