Title:
HYDROGEN STORAGE ELECTRODE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05335015
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance the electroconductivity of a hydrogen storage electrode without causing drop of the theoretical capacity and enhance the capacity denseness of the electrode to a great, extent by allowing the hydrogen storage electrode to contain an inter-graphite layer compound which can store and release hydrogen,

CONSTITUTION: A hydrogen storage alloy which can store and release hydrogen is used as a negative electrode material. That is, the electroconductivity between hydrogen storage alloy particles is enhanced to a great extent by adding a conductive inter-graphite layer compound to a hydrogen storage electrode. Thereby the hydrogen storing and releasing efficiency of the hydrogen storage alloy contained in the hydrogen storage electrode, i.e., the charging efficiency, is enhanced to a great extent. Because the inter-graphite layer compound added can itself occlude and release hydrogen, the theoretical capacity of the electrode does not drop substantially even though inter-graphite layer compound in an amount required to enhance the charging efficiency of the hydrogen storage alloy. Thereby the charge/discharge efficiency is enhanced without causing drop of the theoretical capacity of the hydrogen storage alloy, and the capacity denseness of the hydrogen storage alloy can be enhanced to a great, extent.
