Title:
HYDROPHILIZED OXYGEN-PERMEABLE CONTACT LENS AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3647093
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To impart durability to running-water cleaning without deteriorating the appearance, to allow the surface to exhibit sufficient hydrophilicity and to obtain an oxygen-permeable contact lens capable of being circulated in a dry state by coating the outer face with a hydrophilicity-imparting material selected from a specified group.
CONSTITUTION: At least the outer face of an oxygen-permeable contact lens is coated with a hydrophilicity-imparting material selected from a goup consisting of a hydrophilic silicone oil shown by the formula and having ≤5000 centipoise viscosity at 20°C, a polysaccharide or its derivative and a modified collagen having 400 to 100,000 average mol.wt. to make the contact lens hydrophilic. Since the surface hydrophilicity is sufficiently exhibited in this way, clouding is not caused even in initial wearing and the tear is not repelled even if the lens is circulated in a dry state, the sight is stabilized, and such conventional problems are advantageously eliminated.
