Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a chewing gum having hard texture and excellent long-term stability by mixing a chewing gum base, sweetener, specified and hydrophilic plasticizer. CONSTITUTION: After 20 to 70wt.% sorbitol, 3 to 50wt.% glycerin, 2 to 25wt.% gelatin having 100 to 250 Bloom value, and 6 to 25wt.% water are preliminarily mixed, the mixture is heated at 40 to 85 deg.C to obtain a hydrophilic plastic system (C). Then 5 to 60wt.% chewing gum base such as chicle, zelutong, balata and styrene-butadiene copolymer is mixed with a softening agent at 60 to 90 deg.C, the mixture is mixed with (B) 0.001 to 90wt.% sweetener comprising sugar and/or sugar alcohols, 3 to 15wt.% component (C) and if necessary, (D) filler, coloring agent and flavors and formed into a desired shape.
