To provide a hydrospace detection device having a new fish species discrimination function capable of correctly discriminating a fish species.
An arithmetic processing part 14 of the hydrospace detection device 1 detects a single fish from an echo signal acquired (S101). The arithmetic processing part 14 detects an incidence angle for each single fish detected (S102). The arithmetic processing part 14 calculates a reflection intensity TS of each single fish for which the incidence angle is detected (S103). The arithmetic processing part 14 compares incidence angle characteristics of the calculated reflection intensity TS with template characteristic curve set for each fish species. The arithmetic processing part 14 selects a fish species corresponding to the template characteristic curve to which the incidence angle characteristics of the calculated reflection intensity TS is the most similar (S104).
