PURPOSE: To obtain the subject medicinal agent containing, as active ingredient, oligogalacturonic acrid or a salt thereof, industrially useful because of being capable of its mass production at low cost, also safe to human health, free from side effects, and easy to take by humans.
CONSTITUTION: This hypertension inhibitor contains, as active ingredient, oligogalacturonic acid or a salt thereof. The oligogalacturonic acid is prepared, for example, by the following process polygalacturonic acid is dissolved in 50mM of an acetic acid buffer solution (pH5) followed by addition of an endo- type pectinase and then conducting a reaction at 30°C for 30min; subsequently, the reaction is stopped and the reaction liquor is then passed through a cation exchange resin, and the resultant liquor is concentrated at reduced pressures and lyophilized. The salt of the oligogalacturonic acrid is e.g. a monovalent metal salt such as Na salt or K salt, ammonium salt.
