PURPOSE: To obtain a medicinal composition useful for the treatment of hyperglycemic mammal or hyperchoresteremic mammal by using a specified thiazolinedione derivative.
CONSTITUTION: This invention provides a medicinal composition containing a compound of the formula [wherein V is CH=CH or N=CH or CH=N or S; W is CH2, CHOH, CO, C=NOR (wherein R is H or methyl), CH=CH; X is S, O, NR1 (wherein R1 is R), CH=N, N=CH; Y is CH or N; Z is H, a 1-7C alkyl, a 3-7 cycloalkyl, phenyl, naphthyl, pyridyl, furyl, thienyl or phenyl having one or two substituents (1-3C alkyls, CF3, 1-3C alkyls, F, Cl or Br)(e.g. 5-[4-[3-(2- phenyl-5-methyl-5-oxazolyl)propionyl]benzyl]thiazolidin-2,4-dione]. A daily dosage of this compound is 0.10-50 mg/kg body weight, desirably 0.10-10 mg/kg body weight.
