Abstract:

To provide a compound having antiviral properties and other desirable properties such as bioavailability, efficiency, nontoxity, optimal clearance, and efficacy.

A pharmaceutical composition for treatment or prevention of viral infections includes, as an active component, at least one imidazo[4,5-c]pyridine prodrug having general formula (A) wherein substituents are described in the specification. A method for performing preparation and screening of compounds having the general formula and their use in treatment or prevention of viral infections are also provided.
