Abstract:
A burner which can burn either liquid or gaseous fuels has an outer air supply duct (4) of circular cross-section with the diameter decreasing in the direction of flow so that the duct is of conical form. This air duct surrounds a number of co-axial ducts (1,2,3,8,9,16,17,18) which supply liquid or gaseous media (B,D,E,F,G). Curved vanes (7) are fitted in the air supply duct (4) and impart a swirling motion to the incoming air. These vanes are hollow, or at least partly hollow, and have holes (19) in their leading edges and the interior of each vane is connected by an opening (18) in the wall of the duct (4) with the ducts (16,17) which supply the liquid or gaseous medium (D).
