Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simplify the transfer of a drive pulse in the interlace operation by means of field storage by providing a common transfer gate to adjacent photo diodes in the vertical direction of the image pickup device and mixing signal charges of two photo diodes of different combination from a 1st field and a 2nd field and reading the mixed charge. CONSTITUTION:A transfer gate is provided in common to the photo diodes adjacent to each other in the vertical direction. That is, the common transfer gate area 103ij is provided to the photo diodes 101i, 101j. Moreover, when the photo diode 101j is aimed, two transmission gate areas 103ij and 103jk correspond to photodiodes adjacent in the vertical direction. Furthermore, 1st layer vertical transfer electrodes 107j, 107k act transfer electrodes in common.
