Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a retarder operable at a low cost while preventing a main brake from a fading phenomenon and deteriorating its abrasion life.
CONSTITUTION: A retarder 1 is equipped with an air compressor 23, which is driven by being connected to the crankshaft 51 side of an engine 3 and supplies pressurized intake air to the engine 3, a changeover means 33, which cools the brakes by switching at least part of the intake air to the brake side at brake application time, and a switch 39, being interlocked with a brake pedal, operates changeover of the changeover means 33.
