Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily and efficiently prepare substituted indanones useful as an intermediate or the like in the production of a metallocene complex or the like in a high yield by reacting respectively specified aromatic compd., carboxylic anhydride or the like with in liq. anhydrous hydrogen fluoride.

CONSTITUTION: The compd. of formula I (R1 to R4 denote each H, a 1-20C alkyl, 6-14C aryl, 1-10C alkoxy, 2-10C alkenyl, halogen or the like) is reacted with a compd. of formula II (R5 to R7 denote each R1) or a compd. of formula III in liq. anhydrous hydrogen fluoride to obtain the objective compds. of formulae IV and V.
