PURPOSE: To unify the quality of products such as noodle or SOMEN (kind of thin noodle) and to improve the production efficiency by actively making the most of the merit of incorporatability to be usable in an automatic noodle- making line and mechanically and automatically drawing a noodle wire while alternately repeating an operation for drawing it and another operation for contracting it in stages in a narrow space.

CONSTITUTION: A raw noodle 1 is drawn to a prescribed size stepwise by alternately repeating a process for drawing the noodle 1 by horizontally moving a pair of rods 2 and 3 between which the noodle 1 is stretched crosswise respectively through upper and lower conveyers 64a and 4 while keeping the noodle in a vertical state, transferring the upper or lower rod 2 or 3 to an elevator unit 11 at a prescribed position and rapidly moving it up and down and another process for transferring the noodle to an after-stage laterally transfering chain conveyor 7 set to a position higher or lower than the level of the previous stage and conveying it while allowing the noodle to contract by release of the pressing force several times.
