Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain high activity and to prevent the adhesion of carbon to thereby prolong the life of catalyst layers by forming a specified zirconia-carried catalyst layer on a specified aluminacarried catalyst layer, and introducing reactants from the side of the former catalyst layer. CONSTITUTION:A steam reformer using hydrocarbon as row material, wherein the catalyst layer of the catalyst tube is formed by laminating a catalyst layer comprising an yttria-containing tetragonal or cubic zirconia carrier carrying rhodium, lutenium, palladium, platinum or a mixture thereof on a catalyst layer comprising an alumina carrier carrying nickel, iron, cobalt, rhodium, lutenium, palladium, platinum or a mixture thereof, and reactants are introduced from the side of the former catalyst layer.
