Abstract:
The filtering method provides a data base unit for storing information on test point sensor output signal values for some sensors and values for external events corresponding to the output signal values, or simultaneous time series of the output signal values from adjacent sensors for comparison. The sensor output signal values are accompanied with values for the model and calibration parameters and values for the external events corresponding to a situation. The sensors and changes in the external events are controlled corresponding to a new situation. A logic unit is provided for accessing the sensor signal output values with the model and calibration parameters. The logic unit has a two-way communications link to the data base unit, and computes initial values for unknown model and calibration parameters with accuracy estimates by using Lange's High-pass filter as required. Current values of the model and calibration parameters are accessed together with elements of a state transition matrix, and by using the Fast Kalman Filter formulas obtained from Lange's sparse-matrix inversion formula, updates of the model and calibration parameter values of the external events and their accuracies are calculated corresponding to new situations. The stability of the Kalman filtering is controlled by monitoring the accuracy estimates and by indicating need for new test point data, comparisons or system reconfiguration.
