Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive, high-performance, modified asphalt which has highly hard and flexible binder properties by heat-mixing and melting asphalt with a rosin and a plastic. SOLUTION: A plastic material 5 in an amt. of 5 to 50 pts.wt. and a rosin 2 in an amt. of 5 to 20 pts.wt. are heat mixed together and melted to prepare a modified additive 6. The modified additive 6 and 100 pts.wt. asphalt 1 are heat mixed together and melted to obtain a modified asphalt A1 having highly hard and flexible binder properties. The modified asphalt A1 and an aggregate 3 are heat mixed to obtain an asphalt concrete G.
