Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a nonwoven fabric for an alkaline battery separator with high absorbency and retainability of an electrolyte in spite of low basic weight and provide its manufacturing method. CONSTITUTION:Organic fibers mainly comprise split type composite fibers obtained by joining polyolefin polymer and ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer and fibrillating polyolefin fibers with a water filtering value of 20sec or more. Preferably, the fibrillating polyolefin fiber is treated by using a high pressure homogenizing device. The split type composite fibers are split to extra fine fibers in water with a macerating machine, then dispersed together with the fibrillating polyolefin fibers to form slurry, the slurry is treated with a paper machine in a wet paper machine process to form a web, then both surfaces of the web are treated with corona discharge.
