Abstract:
The refrigerant flow control valve has a cylindrical standpipe (26) extending upwardly from the bottom (18) of a liquid refrigerant sump (11), and vertical slots (33) are formed in the sides thereof near the bottom end. On the inner sides of the standpipe (26), a sleeve (34) is slideably disposed to uncover the slots (33) as the sleeve (34) is vertically raised. On the outer side of the standpipe (26) a toroidal shaped float device (38), which is secured to the sleeve (34) by a tube (42) extending through upper side slots (37) in the standpipe (26), is vertically moveable in response to the level of liquid refrigerant in the sump (11) to thereby regulate the sleeve vertical position and therefore the flow of refrigerant from the sump (11).
