PURPOSE: To effect a switchover between cooling and heating by means of a directional air-flow-switching plate provided at the outlet of a fan casing.

CONSTITUTION: A compressor 10 is placed at the bottom inside a body 1 and connected by piping to an evaporator 6 and a condenser 7 placed respectively on two opposed sides in the body 1. In the middle of the body 1 fan casings 8, 9 each housing a centrifugal fan consisting of a radial arrangement of blades are placed in parallel to each other; each centrifugal fan is held freely rotatably on the shaft of a double-axle motor 12. At the outlet formed in the upper part of each of the fan casings 8, 9 a directional air-flow-switching plate 15, 16 is held freely rotatably on a pivot in a setup to alternately close the two outlets of the fan casings by the use of a lever 19 provided on one side of the body 1. Air sucked in through inlets 3 formed respectively in two opposed sides of the body 1 flows through the evaporator 6 and the condenser 7 respectively and turns into cooling air and heating air; the supply of air between cooling and heating is switched by means of the directional air-flow-switching plates.
