PURPOSE: To provide a new cyanoketone derivative giving highly selective herbicidal activity on broadleaf weeds at low doses through its pseudohormonic activity, and safe to a target crop even at high doses.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I (Y1 to Y5 are each H, halogen, (substituted) alkyl, alkenyl, ankynyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, CN, thiol or OH or a salt thereof; X1 and X2 are each O or S; B1 to B3 are each H or alkyl; A1 is H or (substituted) alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkoxycarbonyl, (substituted) benzoyl, CN, (substituted) aromatic group or (substituted) heterocyclic group), e.g. 1-cyano-1-(3-trifluorotosyl)-3-(3-chlorophenoxy)-2-butanone. The compound of the formula I can be obtained by reaction of an ester derivative of formula II (R is alkyl) with a derivative of formula III in the presence or absence of a solvent.
