PURPOSE: To easily break window glass without injury even when a user is in an inconvenient posture by installing a protecting member in a breaking member freely rotationally.

CONSTITUTION: A grip part 2 is gripped like an ice pick in the inside of a protecting member 6 so as to be struck into window glass. In this case, the protecting member 6 serves as a protector which prevents a user from getting hurt. by broken pieces of the window glass. The protecting member 6 also prevents injury when residual broken glass pieces remaining in the window edge are removed. In the protecting member 6, a hole through which a pin 4 is passed is formed, and a window glass breaking member 1 is journalled freely rotationally by means of the pin 4. In the protecting member 6, a through window 6a is formed in the position corresponding to a hammer part 3, so that a point of the hammer part 3 is projected through the through window 6a when the breaking member 1 is rotated.
