Abstract:
PURPOSE:To predict the side slip angle of the wheel or a vehicle, and correctly control the vehicle motion based on this predicted side slip angle. CONSTITUTION:A side slip predicting device is provided with a neural net 50. The neural net 50 consists of three layers, i.e., an input layer 51, an intermediate layer 52, and an output layer 53. The input layer 51 receives the predicted side slip angle beta (k), the front wheel steering angle Fstg(k), the rear wheel steering angle Rstg(k), and the vehicle speed Vsp(k). The neural net 50 consists of the discrete computation to compute the change from the predicted side slip angle beta (k), and the output of the output layer 53 is added by the side slip angle beta (k) to be predicted immediately before. The neural net 50 is designed based on other neural nets where the vehicle system is identified. The vehicle speed to be received by the neural net 50 is in the form of 1/Vsp and 1/Vsp<2>. The integrated value of the predicted side slip angle is cleared to zero when the vehicle travels straightly.
