The steering wheel (10) of a vehicle that can be secured, preferably by screwing, in a central through hole (12) of a steering shaft, has an airbag (50) secured to the steering wheel (10) in the area of its hub (13), a housing (30) of electronic control elements that control in the event of an accident the firing of the airbag, equally secured to the steering wheel, and a pair of at least single-pole (7/23) plugs (5/31). The first plug (5) of the pair (5/31) is associated to the hub (13) of the steering wheel and the second plug (31) of the pair (5/31) is associated to the electronic control elements (30). One or several connections of the first plug (5) connect its (5) pole (7) to one or several connection lines (1) that extend through the steering column, namely at least to the energy supply line (1) of the electronic control elements (30). The first plug (5) is secured to the hub (13) of the steering wheel, laterally from the central hole (12), and the second plug (31) is secured to a housing (30) or stiff part of the electronic control elements, both in such a manner as to avoid tilting or sliding. The second plug (31) can be plugged into or on the first plug (5), already during assembling of the steering wheel (10), by pressing the housing (30) of the electronic control elements in a direction that extends at least approximatively from the steering wheel (10) to the steering shaft, parallel to the steering column. In the assembled state of the first and second plugs (5/31), the housing (30) of the electronic control elements is secured in turn to the steering wheel (10), in the area of its hub (11).
