PURPOSE: To enable both catching and discharging of gas and dust in a space to be treated by a rising whirlwind by a method wherein air sucked from an air supply chamber is blown out in a lowering swirling airstream and also the air in the space to be treated is sucked through a suction port provided in the upward of a central axis of an imaginar column.
CONSTITUTION: If air is supplied by an air supply fan 8 while a rotor 4 is being rotated by a driving motor 3, supply airstream (a) flows into a hollow space 17 through an air supply port 16 provided in an upper part of an air supply header of the rotor 4 from the inside of an air supply chamber 6 and forms going-down airstream (b) and then horizontal airstream (c). Then the airstream flows through branched pipes 21 and 22, and is diffused out of air supply nozles 23 and 24 into a discharged air treating space as another going-down airstream (d). This going-down airstream (d) which also swirls forces air inside an imaginary column in a lower zone of the rotor 4 to swirl, so that the iniside of a rotation zone comes to have a negative pressure, whereby a rising whirlwind (e) may be generated. The whirlwind (e) rises together with dust making a discharged airstream (f), which enters an air discharging chamber 7 through a suction port 10, and is then discharged by an air discharge fan 9.
