PURPOSE: To easily and stably produce the liquid crystal light control body by holding a liquid crystal composite formed by impregnating a porous body consisting essentially of fibers with a liquid crystal material between two sheets of transparent electrodes and impressing a voltage between these two transparent electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal light control body 1 has the transparent electrode 3 on one surface of a transparent substrate 2, such as sheet glass, and has the liquid crystal composite 4 of a uniform thickness in tight contact with the transparent electrode 3. The opposite side of the liquid crystal composite 4 is in tight contact with the transparent electrode 3 on one surface of another transparent substrate 2. The liquid crystal composite 4 is formed by impregnating the cloth- or paper-like porous body of a suitable thickness consisting essentially of the colorless fibers having high transparency with the liquid crystal material. A power source 5 for impressing a voltage for changing the intensity of the transmitted light transmitting the liquid crystal composite 4 is connected to the transparent electrode 3. Since the degree of scattering in liquid crystal drops is changed by changing the voltage to be impressed between the transparent electrodes 3 and 3, the adjustment of the light transmittance is possible.
