Abstract:
The preparation of diacids from washing water of cyclohexane oxidation products comprises (a) removing the peroxide of the washing water by catalytic hydrogenation at 0-100 degrees C, in a continuous mode in a catalytic hydrogenation reactor, in the presence of a metal chosen from platinum's group; and (b) oxidation of the remaining products of the washing water by an aqueous solution of nitric acid of concentration of 55-60% or 4-8 moles excess of nitric acid per mole of functional alcohol contained in the solution to be treated.
