PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal driving method capable of displaying an excellent image without a threading phenomenon due to a spike.

CONSTITUTION: A composite video signal is separated to vertical/horizontal synchronizing signals and a video signal by a synchronizing separator circuit 21, and after are converted to the digital data by an A/D converter 22, voltage values according to display frequency (display area) at every gradation of the image data are generated by a non-selection voltage forming circuit 29. Then, the spike having the size equal to the spike due to a display signal occurring on a scanning electrode 28 and the polarity inverse thereto is formed based on the voltage values. By inputting the spike waveform as non-selection potential of a scanning side driving circuit 26, the spike occurring on the scanning electrode 28 is canceled in an effective value, and the excellent image without the threading phenomenon is obtained.
