PURPOSE: To simply and appropriately execute the opening/closing of a lens barrier convering its front surface and the extension and housing of the lens barrel.

CONSTITUTION: The lens barrel 29 extended and housed from in the front surface of a camera main body and a driving means for the lens barrel 29 are provided. Moreover, the lens barrier 30 opening/closing the front surface side of the lens barrel and a driving means for the lens barrier 30 are provided. Further, an energizing means 44 capable of energizing the lens barrier 30 in a closing direction is installed to prevent the movement in the opening direction of the barrier by external force. Moreover, the driving means of the lens barrel and the barrier are constituted so as to drive by one electric motor 21 and a switching mechanism by planetary mechanisms 23, 24 and 26 changing over a transmission system in the rotational direction of the motor 21. Then, a constitution that the extension and housing of the lens barrel and the opening/closing actions of the lens barrier can be switched only in a state where the barrier can enter the front surface side of the lens barrel.
