Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a valve hole closing plug for an aluminum road wheel remarkably improved in the durability of the plug with only one time being sufficient in the cleaning process, and also provide the leakage detecting method thereof. CONSTITUTION:A valve closing plug for an aluminum road wheel has a plug body 1 with at least an one-end closed expansion part 2 formed of rubber; a cylindrical metal stem 5 with one end part inserted into the open end side of the plug body 1 and with the inside thereof made into an air passage; a sleeve 8 fitted to the outer periphery of the exposed part of the stem 5; and a spindle 13 fitted into the stem 5. The spindle 13 is inserted through a supporting member 10 fixed being thrustd into the stem 5, and moved in the axial direction. When this spindle 13 moves onto the expansion part 2 side, a collar part 14 fixed to the spindle 13 also moves along the inner surface of the stem 5 onto the air chamber 3 side. Air in the stem 5 is thereby pressed into the air chamber 3 so as to expand the expansion part 2. The plug is thereby fixed airtightly to a valve hole.
