To attain miniaturization of the reader by forming the main body of the IC card reader into a sheet, providing an IC card recording content read terminal to one side of the sheet and displaying a read content.

The IC card reader 1 has a device main body 3 formed into a sheet, and a planer read terminal 4 used to read the recording content of an IC is provided on a rear side (one side) 3a. A liquid crystal display section 5 and a solar battery 6 are provided on a front side (other side) 3b. In the case of reading the recording content of an IC card 2, a part provided with the read terminal 4 is depressed from the front 3b side of the device main body 3 while positions of both terminals 4, 9a are in matching with each other. Both the terminals 4, 9a are pressed to ensure power conduction. Then the recording content of the IC card 2 is read. In the case that the device main body 3 is overlapped on the IC card 2, sine the terminal 4 is in matching with the position of the external connection terminal 9a of the IC card 2, the user uses the IC card 2 without caring about the positions of both the terminals 4, 9a.
