PURPOSE: To attain the valid utilization of an IC memory card by editing picture information recorded in a non-compression state into the picture information in a compression state, and recording the picture information again, in an IC memory card camera which records the image picked-up picture information in the IC memory card.

CONSTITUTION: The image picked-up picture information is recorded in a picture memory 24, and the recorded picture information is written in an IC memory card 7. This device is equipped with a compression-editing part constituted of a means 27 which reads the picture information recorded in the IC memory card 7, and a means 29 which compresses the read picture information, and records the picture information in the picture memory. Thus, the valid utilization of the memory area of the IC memory card 7 can be attained by temporarily reading the picture information recorded in the non-compression state, compressing it, and recording it again.
