Abstract:
PURPOSE:To attain a fast straight line identifying system without requiring the memory capacity at a boundary point, by carrying out both boundary point extraction and straight line approximation at a time. CONSTITUTION:Both an input means 101 and a binary-coding/quantizing means 102 give prescribed processing to an obtained polygon 111. Thus a quantized binary-coding image 112 is obtained. A code checking means 106 checks the code signal 113 of the polygon contour obtained by a boundary tracking/coding means 103 and the allowable direction 115 obtained by a trend direction deciding means 104 and an allowable direction deciding means 105 with respected to the image 112. In such a way, a straight line is identified. That is, both the boundary point extraction and the straight line approximation are carried out at a time for the polygon. Then only the polygon contour code 113 is used for identification of the straight line. Thus it is possible to identify a straight line in a single processing procedure and with no memory capacity required at a boundary point.
