To provide an idle stop control method and idle stop control system exhibiting a more suitable suppression effect of fuel consumption.SOLUTION: The idle stop control method for executing idle stop permission determination process of determining whether to permit idle stop of temporally stopping an engine of a vehicle, comprises: when detecting a travel lane traffic signal that is a traffic signal of a travel lane for the vehicle, acquiring intersection signal information on at least one of an intersection lane traffic signal of an intersection lane for the travel lane, and an intersection crosswalk signal of a crosswalk intersecting with the travel lane; and on the basis of the intersection signal information, executing the idle stop permission determination processing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
