To provide a durable and reliable ignition coil, that can protect a yoke section arranged and exposed outside a coil section, from damage due to impact, corrosion and fall, can maintain clearance of gaps for mutual inductance adjustment provided in a coil core to a prescribed range, can eliminate concerns about the excess and shortage of an output voltage occurring, and to provide ignition equipment using the ignition coil.
In the coil core C, forming a closed magnetic circuit M, a nonmagnetic spacer 25 corresponding to an air gap for the mutual inductance adjustment, is interposed in a form having a prescribed thickness; and at the same time, an insulating covering section 50 covering at least the yoke section 30 in the coil core C is formed by through injection molding, due to a thermoplastic resin, thus protecting the coil core C from damage caused by an impact, corrosion and fall due to rust or the like, without exposing the coil core C outside the coil section 10, and hence improving durability in the ignition coil 100.
