PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination control system capable of controlling illumination light according to content and other factors.SOLUTION: The illumination control system controls a luminaire (1) which is adjustable in color temperature of the illumination light or in illuminance on a desired plane to be illuminated by the illumination light. The illumination control system includes: a storage (34) that stores content characteristics, including a piece of main illumination control information (21B) relevant to color temperature or illuminance which is predetermined according to the type of the content including images or sounds and a sub-illumination control information (21C) which includes the color temperature or luminance which is the modified main illumination control information; a selection section (32)that selects any content characteristic from the plural content characteristics stored in the storage (34) responding to an operation made by a user (P); and a control section (31) that controls the illumination light for radiating from the laminate according to the main illumination control information or sub-illumination control information included in the content characteristic selected by the selection section.
