An illumination cut character B has a box 1 having a raised wall 15 at an outer periphery formed in a cut character shape, a light guide plate 2 for light guide illumination, and a surface diffusion plate 3 closing an opening of the box 1, and is formed by sectioning an inner periphery of the raised wall 15 into a light source part 16 and a non-light-source part 17, disposing an LED module 4 having LED chips 42 disposed on a flexible substrate 41 with high density at the light source part 16, forming an end surface of the light guide plate 2 facing the light source part 16 and non-light-source part 17 into an incident end surface part 22 and a reflection end surface part 23, and applying reflection treatment 24 to the reflection end surface part 23. A signboard can be installed on a store wall surface with a projection width of about 2 to 3 cm, and cut characters in complicated shapes having curved surfaces and straight surfaces can uniformly be illuminated.
